Ontario Historic Train Depot - future home of Ontario, Oregon Basque Club, left

Ontario, Oregon Basque Club Euskal Etxea Project

As our club turns 60 years old, we have found ourselves in the fortunate situation of acquiring our own physical space in which to carry out our activities.  Through an agreement with the City of Ontario and generous grants from the Basque Government, we have begun renovation of the north end of Ontario's historic train depot which will serve as our Euskal Etxea or Basque center.  This is an important step toward our future and the maintenance of Basque heritage in the Ontario area.  The Basque center will be used for meetings, language classes, films and cultural presentations, dance classes, mus and briska playing, and other social and cultural activities of our members.  The opening of the center is projected for fall 2007.

While we have been able to move ahead with grant monies received from the Basque Government, additional funds are necessary in order to complete the project.  We are offering you a chance to help us with this important project.  Donations may be made in memory of a family member or in honor of a loved one and will be acknowledged at the center and on this website.  In addition, plaques will be displayed at the center for donations of $500.00 or more and for donations of $1,000.00 or more.  Donors will be provided with a receipt for tax purposes. You may mail a donation or use the PayPal link above:

Donations over $500.00 will be acknowledged on perpetual plaques in the center:
Your contribution will be truly appreciated and will help assure the preservation of Basque heritage in the Ontario area.
