Learn Basque at your own pace in the comfort of your own home with this entertaining program!  The minimum requirements are:

Windows 95/98/NT 4.0/2000/Me/XP or superior
Pentium III, 500mhz, 64mb RAM
free disk space: 20 Mb
Internet connection
sound card
mouse and CD-ROM unit
Microphone and speakers

This program usually costs $150.00 per three-month session but it is being offered by HABE and the Basque Government to members of NABO clubs at NO COST!
Currently we have 35 people participating in Boga.  If you haven't signed up and would like to please contact Maria and she will get you a user name and password.
Each lesson of the Boga program follows a similar format. You can go back and forth between areas to review.  The following examples come from different sessions of the first stratum. (click on the images to see a larger version)
tutor.JPG (223278 bytes) The content of each lesson is introduced in English by a virtual tutor.  She explains what will be covered, who the main characters of the lesson will be and what they will be doing.
hotela.JPG (202640 bytes) Next you see and hear an animated dialogue in Basque.
elkarizketa.JPG (240596 bytes) This is followed by the script of the dialogue with English translation.  Each phrase has a button you can click to hear it as many times as you wish.
izan_ikasgaia.JPG (117238 bytes) The tutor then appears and explains the grammatical concepts in English.
izan_ariketa.JPG (213286 bytes) This is followed by exercises that help you learn the concepts.
koloreak.JPG (208191 bytes) There are also exercises to learn vocabulary.
jokua.JPG (127405 bytes) Games like this help quiz you on what you learned and reinforce the lesson content.
There are also tests at the end of each session and stratum (except for the first sessions).  Your progress will be tracked by the Boga server and you will be able to communicate with your instructor via email messages through the program.  Participants will meet monthly to practice and discuss the Boga program.

We will also be offering the Boga program at our Basque Center when it is completed.  This is an alternative for those who do not have a computer or internet access.

This is an incredible opportunity to exercise your brain in a fun way and recuperate the most defining characteristic of our Basque heritage.  Gora Euskara!
